Annotation description:Fig1 shows by quantitative immunoEM that NFM (neurofilament medium) is mainly present in the postsynapse with also significant labelling in the presynapse compared to background labeling in mitochondria (Fig1b). Fig1A, C and D show typical examples. Similar finding are reported using fluorescence microscopy where NFM colocalises with postsynaptic marker PSD95 (Fig1g) and presynaptic marker synaptophysin (Fig1h). FigS2E shows NFM labelling by pre-embedding methods, which is quantified against the neurofilament triple knockout (FigS2i) showing that the antibody is specific.
