| Annotation description: | CRTC1 localizes in dendritic spines and translocates to the nucleus upon bicuculline application, which requires functional AMPA and NMDA receptors. This process occurs in excitatory but not GAD67 positive neurons. In organotypic and acute slices, translocation of CRTC1 is also found after induction of cLTP or theta pulse stimulation. In both cases, the observation was made in the CA1 region. Reduction of CRTC1 levels by means of a siRNA affected the CREB-induced expression of some but not all genes. |
