Annotation description: | The authors study the role of PLC b4 in synaptic transmission at cerebellar Purkinje cells. While basal synaptic transmission is normal (figure 3), long-term depression is abolished (Figure 4). Surprisingly, the phenotype was only observed in the rostral cerebellum (lobes 1-6), whereas in the caudal cerebellum (lobes 7-10), no obvious phenotype was observed. Caudal cerebellum may express other PLC isoforms that compensate for the loss of PLC b4 (Figure 2). PLC b4 expression in all cerebellar lobes, and successfull removal of PLC b4 expression, where shown by western blot (figure 2). |
