Annotation description: | The authors raised antibodies that recognize specific liprin alpha isoforms, and used these in confocal microscopy on cultured neurons. Specificity of the antibody is verified by western blot in HEK293 cells (Figure 2). Liprin a2 was found to colocalize with the presynaptic marker Bassoon (figure 11) and postsynaptic marker PSD-95 (Figure 12), suggesting a synaptic localization. Two other studies are in line with a synaptic localization of liprin a2. Spangler et.al. used a different antibody, and also found a synaptic localization of liprin a2 using confocal microscopy. Wyszynski et.al. dectected liprin a2 at the pre- and postsynapse using immuno EM, although it is unclear whether this antibody has any crossreactivity with other liprin isoforms. |
