Annotation description: | Ultrastructural localization of NCX2 in the cerebral cortex and hippocampus. Preembedding immunoperoxidase and silver-enhanced immunogold procedures were used. Figure 5c presents a large labelled dendritic profile with multiple axon terminals contacting it, all unable. Labelling of NCX2 on the mitochondrial membrane in this dendrite is seen, as well as associated to microtubules and to the plasma membrane near the postsynaptic plasma membrane. Figure 5d - labelling in a distal dendrite contacted by one axonal terminal. Figure 5e - a labelled dendritic spine. Table 1 presents a quantification of the immunolabeling, and shows that a large portion of NCX2 profiles the cerebral cortex and in the hippocampus are in dendrites and spines. antibody: a hybridoma cell-produced monoclonal IgM antibody (W1C3). Figure 1 demonstrated antibody specificity in western blotting of hippocampus, heart and cortex homogenates in comparison with a recombinant protein produced in HEK cells. Strong WB signals with little cross-reactivity are a good indication for the antibody specificity. |
