Annotation description:Preembedding immuno-EM reveals the presence of immunoreactivityfor MARCKS in some dendrites and spines in the cingulate cortex and hypothalamus (Fig.11-13). Heavy immunoreactivity was often associated with the cytoplasmic surface of the plasma membrane (Fig 11A, Fig. 13A).

MARCKS is myristoylated and interacts additionally via a cluster of basic residues through electrostatic interactions with the plasma membrane (myristoyl-electrostatic switch). Therefore the term "anchored component of the postsynaptic PM" was chosen.

An affinity purified antibody against rat MARCKS was generated in the study and the specificity of the antibody was confirmed by Western Blot (Fig. 1). No KO-control.
