Annotation description: | The creatine transporter transports creatine in a sodium-dependent manner (Fig.5). Rat hippocampal neurons in culture are incubated with radiolabelled creatine for 15 min with or without sodium (Fig. 5a) indicating the requirements for sodium for the creatine transport into cells. The uptake of radiolabelled creatine is inhibited by creatine and creatine transporter competitive inhibitors (GPA, GBA, cycloCr, and GA, Fig. 5b). Samples of solubilized cells were taken for liquid scintillation counting protein determination. |
