Annotation description:It is demonstrated that a PKC alpha knockout has a reduction in post-tetanic potentiation (PTP), in the Calyx of Held. It is also shown that PTP operates at least partly due to a potentiation in readily releasable pool size, and that this potentiation is diminished in the PKC alpha/beta knockout.

It should be noted that in some synapses, PKC alpha is not required for PTP (Wang et.al. 2016).

Additional literature:Wang et.al. demonstrates that the role of PKC alpha in PTP is not universal. In this publication, PKC alpha knockout has no effect on PTP at the CA3 to CA1 synapse. @ PMID:27307229
