Annotated paper:Lin JW, et al. "Yotiao, a novel protein of neuromuscular junction and brain that interacts with specific splice variants of NMDA receptor subunit NR1" J Neurosci. 1998 Mar 15;18(6):2017-27 PMID:9482789
Figure(s):Fig.1, Fig3, 5b, Fig 7
Annotation description:Yotiao is a protein that interacts with the NMDA receptor subunit NR1 (Fig.3). The protein is membrane associated and enriched in postsynaptic densities obtained after biochemical fractionation of the rat brain (Fig.5). Immunolabeling of Yotiao and NR1 show colocalizing immunoreactivity in somatodendritic puncta in pyramidal neurons of the rat cerebral cortex (Fig.7).

- The yotiao protein comes from the Akap9 gene. There is no reviewed rat sequence in Uniprot. There is a fragment (~350 aa) in Uniprot that bears the name Yotiao, but this seems to be a partial fragment. I selected full length Akap9 for annotation.
- Paper shows (1) localization to PSD and (2) interaction with NR1 but does not show direct interaction with NR1 at the PSD. Therefore the evidenced term is PSD, and later a inferred annotation to 'extrinsic component of postsynaptic density membrane (GO:0099147)' will be added.
