Annotated paper:Ambrozkiewicz MC, et al. "The murine ortholog of Kaufman oculocerebrofacial syndrome protein Ube3b regulates synapse number by ubiquitinating Ppp3cc" Mol Psychiatry. 2021 Jun;26(6):1980-1995 PMID:32249816
Figure(s):Figure 1d, 3
Annotation description:Figure 1D: Ube3b is enriched in PSD and crude synaptic membrane biochemical fractions, similar to PSD95 (DLG4), prepared from cerebral cortices from 6- to 7-week-old mice.

Fig. 3: Ube3b knockout leads to increased density and altered spine morphology in hippocampal neurons. Necks of spines in Ube3b KO hippocampal neurons were longer (Fig. 3c, g and Table S1L), and spine heads wider as compared with control (Fig. 3c, h and Table S1M).

Fig. 4: Ube3b knockout leads to an increase in the number of functional excitatory synapses in hippocampal neurons.

Fig. 6: Proteomic screen identifies Ppp3cc as a Ube3b substrate. Ppp3cc overexpression phenocopies Ube3b cKO in spine formation in vivo.
