| Annotation description: | Figure 1, S1: Confocal imaging of FUS in mouse cortex and hippocampus showed localization to along dendrites and axons as well as association with synaptic markers Synapsin-1 (SYN1) and PSD95 (DLG4). Figure 1c,d: sub-synaptic localization of FUS was determined using STED superresolution microscopy. Synaptic FUS preferentially associates with excitatory synapses, of which 46% contained FUS, while only 20% of analyzed inhibitory synapses showed FUS positivity. Figure 1h: The majority of FUS was found localized to the presynaptic terminal, approx 150nm from the active zone, but postsynaptic localization (away from the PSD) was also observed. |
