Figure(s):Figure 1, 4
Annotation description:Figure 1: RSK1 (RPS6KA1) was enriched in all synaptic biochemical fractions prepared from rat forebrain, including PSD.

Figure 4: electron microscopy of RSK1 in Rat hippocampus showed localization to the PSD.

"RSK1 immunoreactive aggregations of 200-500 nm in diameter were scattered in the cytoplasm throughout the dendrites (arrows in Fig. 4). Some immunoreactive aggregates were in contact with, or very close to, the dendritic plasma membrane (arrows marked with 1 in Fig. 4a and b) or connected with immunoreactive PSDs (arrows marked with 2 in Fig. 4b) on the dendritic shaft. These results suggested that the immunoreactive aggregates observed in the central region of the dendrite cut longitudinally were close to the dendritic plasma membrane. Spines and spine PSDs were also strongly positive for RSK1 staining (Fig. 4c). Presynaptic terminals were negative for staining. The cytoplasmic region in the dendrites was relatively weak for staining, except for the immunoreactive aggregates."
