Figure(s):Figure 5, 6, 7
Annotation description:RapGEF2 (aka; PDZ-GEF1, nRap-GEP, CNrasGEF, RA-GEF) is a neural-specific activator for both mammalian Rap proteins Rap1 and Rap2 (PMID:10608883).

Figure 5: reverse IPs showed RapGEF2 interacts with PSD-Zip70 (LZTS1). In cultured neurons, both proteins co-localized at dendritic puncta. PSD-Zip70 also interacted and co-localized with SPAR (SIPA1L1), which is known to be localized to the postsynaptic density (PMID:11502259).

Figure 6: PSD-Zip70 modulates Rap2 activity via SPAR and RapGEF2 in cultured neurons.
"Thus, the Rap2-specific activation in PSD-Zip70KO neurons may be related to the spatial association of PSD-Zip70 with SPAR and PDZ-GEF1 as a ternary complex close to Rap2 in the postsynapse."

Figure 7: "We then investigated the effect of Rap2 activity on the spine morphology in WT and PSD-Zip70KO neurons. The forced expression of PDZ-GEF1 or PDZ-GEF2 reduced the size of the spine head and altered the spine shape from mushroom to thin in WT neurons (Fig. 7a-c)."
