Annotation description: | Figure 2: FGF7 knockout mice have impaired synapse maturation/differentiation. Figure 3a-d: "Overexpression of FGF22 and FGF7 in cultured hippocampal neurons leads to an increase in the clustering of VGLUT1 and VGAT puncta, respectively, on the FGF-expressing neuron (Fig. 3a). This suggests that FGF22 and FGF7 specifically promote differentiation of glutamatergic and GABAergic presynaptic terminals, respectively, as target-derived molecules." Figure 3e-j: immunofluorescence imaging of FGF7 in cultured hippocampal neurons showed co-localization with inhibitory postsynapse marker protein Gephyrin (GPHN). Same results for both overexpressed FGF7-DsRed and endogenous FGF7. FGF7 did not colocalize with excitatory synapse marker proteins. |
