Annotation description: | Figure 4a: SynCAM 2 (CADM2) in enriched in synaptic plasma membrane biochemical fractions prepared from rat forebrain at P9 (as compared to e.g. synaptosomes). Figure 4b: confocal imaging of immunofluorescence labeling for SynCAM 2 (CADM2), GAD65 (GAD2) and PSD-95 (DLG4) in cultured hippocampal neurons from showed SynCAM 2 is localized to both inhibory and excitatory synapses. Figure 8: SynCAM 1 and 2 coimmunoprecipitate in synaptosomes prepared from rat forebrain at P15. Figure 9: in mixed coculture assay of HEK 293 cells expressing SynCAM 1 or 2 seeded atop dissociated hippocampal cultures, SynCAM 1 and 2 recruit presynaptic marker proteins and engage each other in adhesive neuronal complexes. Figure 10: Postsynaptic overexpression of SynCAM 2 promotes formation of presynaptic terminals in dissociated hippocampal neurons and promotes excitatory synaptic transmission. |
