Annotation description: | Figure 1d-j: confocal imaging of immunofluorescence staining for DOCK4, PSD95 (DLG4) and synaptophysin (SYP) in hippocampal neurons showed localization of DOCK4 to the postsynapse. Figure 2d-g, 3: shRNA knockdown of DOCK4 in hippocampal neurons impaired dendritic spine formation. Specific shRNA targeting DOCK4 domains showed that the GEF activity and the proline-rich region are required for Dock4-mediated spine formation. authors conclude: "These results suggest that Dock4 positively regulates dendritic spine formation through activation of Rac in hippocampal neurons." |
