Figure(s):Figure 7
Annotation description:Figure 1, 2: PDLIM5 (aka. ENH, Enigma Homolog) and SPAR (Spine-Associated RapGAP, gene SIPA1L1) co-immunoprecipitated and interacted in yeast two-hybrid.

Figure 7: overexpression of PDLIM5a in cultured hippocampal neurons reduced mature mushroom shaped spines and increased thin filopodia-like structures. In contrast, overexpressing PDLIM5b and a PDLIM5a construct lacking LIM domains 2 and 3 caused a significant increase in dendritic spine head size, suggesting that the PDLIM5a overexpression phenotype was conditional on its binding to SPAR. Knockdown of PDLIM5a had the same effect as overexpression of PDLIM5b and PDLIM5a-ΔLIM.

Figure 8: postsynaptic localization of PDLIM5 is increased upon PKC activation in cultured hippocampal neurons at 27DIV.
