Annotation description:Figure 7: EM of immunoperoxidase labeled Girk2 (KCNJ6) showed both pre- and post-synaptic localization.

"Electron micrographs of the distal part of the stratum radiatum of the hippocampal CA1 region showing colocalization for Rgs7 or Gβ5 (GNB5) with Girk2 (KCNJ6), as detected using a pre-embedding immunogold method. Labelling is shown with immunogold for the Rgs7 or Gβ5, and with immunoperoxidase for the Girk2 subunit.

Postsynaptically, Rgs7 (panel A) or Gβ5 (panel B) were seen in dendritic spines (s) of presumed pyramidal cells immunopositive for Girk2. Presynaptically, Rgs7 (panel C) or Gβ5 (panel D) were detected in Girk2-positive axon terminal (at) establishing asymmetrical contact with a dendritic spine (s)."
