Annotation description: | "Strikingly, the added "new" synapses that were induced by the deletion of Nrxn2 were more powerful and had a higher release probability than Nrxn2-containing synapses. The increase in release probability was again documented by three approaches: a decreased paired-pulse ratio (PPR) (Fig. 3E), a decreased coefficient of variation of synaptic responses (Fig. 3, F and J), and an enhanced inactivation rate of synaptic responses in the presence of MK-801 (Fig. 3, K to M)." Authors note that this is unexpected and in contrast to Nrxn2's well studied family members Nrxn1 and Nrxn3, where deletions cause impairments in synaptic transmission in both mouse and human neurons (e.g. PMID:26279266, PMID:26030848). |
