Annotation description: | Rab7 is a marker for late endosomes (Zerial and McBride, 2001. PMID:11252952) Figure 4: co-localization of Synaptophysin (SYP) and GFP-Rab7 in cultured hippocampal neurons. Piccolo (PCLO) mutants disrupted endosomal Rab5 and Rab7 pathways for SV recycling. Authors concluded that "the maturation of membranes within the endosome compartment from Rab5 positive early endosomes towards late Rab7 positive endosomes is affected by the loss of Piccolo (Figure 4A)." From this we infer presynaptic localization of Rab7-positive endosomes, which cannot be directly observed from the imaging data (resolution too low). |
