Annotation description: | Figure 3d: InSyn2 coimmunoprecipitates with gephyrin (GPHN) when coexpressed in human embryonic kidney 293 (HEK293) cells. Figure S4: depletion of InSyn2 leads to significant reduction in mIPSC frequency (i.e. abnormal synaptic inhibition). Analogous to main Figure 4 which demonstrated a similar effect for InSyn1. We annotate against a more generic ontology term for now as the exact role of InSyn2 in the inhibitory postsynapse remains unclear. Authors suggest a potential mechanism for InSyn1 but do not discuss InSyn2, although similar speculation applies: "The mechanism of reduced mIPSC frequency for InSyn1 is likely through the disruption of the ability of InSyn1 to form complexes with both gephyrin and the dystrophin complex at the iPSD. Loss of dystrophin might also lead to a secondary trans-synaptic effect on presynaptic release probability through its ability to bind neurexins (22, 23)." |
