Figure(s):Figure 1A-D
Annotation description:- PRMT is a family of enzymes that catalyze the addition of the methyl group to arginine residue of
the substrate.
- PRMT8 is required for synaptic plasticity in the hippocampus and memory formation.
- Expression of PRMT8 is is largely restricted in the brain and is the only membrane-bound PRMT via N-terminal myristoylation.

- Figure 1A: In situ hybridization of rat hippocampal neurons. Prmt8 mRNA puncta were found in dendrites.
- Figure 1B: Western blot shows that PRMT8 protein is present in the synapse-enriched synaptoneurosome fraction from the forebrain
- Figure 1C: Immunofluorescence staining of PRMT8 protein and PSD-95 in primary hippocampal neurons showed that PRMT8 exists as distinct puncta on dendrites and some PRMT8 puncta were partially overlapped with the postsynaptic protein PSD-95.
- Figure 1D: Hippocampal neurons transfected with GFP-tagged PRMT8 or GFP, followed by staining with GFP antibody at 19 DIV. PRMT8 appeared as discrete puncta in the dendrite, and some were localized in the dendritic spine heads.

-Figure 4A: Western blot in PRMT8 +/+ , +/- and -/- mice shows antibody specificity.
