Annotation description: | Figure 1A: SDS-digested freeze-fracture replica labelling (SDS-FRL) with an antibody specific for the Cacna1a subunit of the Cav2.1 P/Q-type VGCCs shows immunogold particles (5 nm diameter) for Cav2.1 are predominantly found on the presynaptic P-face, with little labelling on the exoplasmic face or cross-fractured face. Figure S1A-B: Specificity of the antibody in replica labelling was confirmed using Cav2.1 knockout mice which showed little Cav2.1 labelling. Figure S2C-D: Cav2.1 labelling followed by RIM staining revealed that the majority of Cav2.1 clusters are closely associated with RIM particles supporting that Cav2.1 are localized in AZs. The term "integral component.." was chosen based on the transmembrane topology of the Cacna1a subunit (P54282_RAT) Note: Reference tracking shows that the antibody used in the study is specific against the Cacna1a subunit of the Cav2.1 channel (PMID: 22279216). |
