Figure(s):Fig 4 and 5
Annotation description:Fig4A-C: Electron micrographs of asymmetric synapses in CA1 stratum radiatum of hippocampus show labelling for PICK1 (small gold particles, 10 nm) in the postsynaptic specialisation.
Fig5A: Transverse histogram shows the number of gold particles at different distances (nm) from the outer margin of the postsynaptic density specialization (PSS) (zero), in postsynaptic (negative values) and presynaptic (positive values) directions, respectively. This histogram shows that the distribution of PICK1 immunogold particles in both presynapses as well as postsynapse.

Fig5C-D: The specificity of the immunogold labelling was checked by preabsorption with the immunizing peptide which nearly abolished the labelling for PICK1.
Fig1B-C: siRNA sequences (E3, E5, E7) against PICK1 were used to knock down PICK1 protein in dissociated hippocampal cell cultures and these extracts were subjected to SDS-PAGE and immunostained with the PICK1 and GAPDH antibody. Comparisons were made with extracts from cells not exposed to siRNA (MOCK). The intensity of PICK1 staining was decreased after transfection for all three siRNA sequences used indicating its specificity against PICK1.
