Annotation description: | Prohibitin immunoreactivity colocalizes with presynaptic (Bassoon) and postsynaptic (Shank 3) marker proteins in cortical primary cultures. 12/01/2021 Dnyanada: The additional literature (PMID: 23622064) identifies prohibitin in presynaptic active zone fraction. The confocal images used in the annotated paper do not have the resolution to discriminate between pre- and postsynaptic localisation. Due to a lack of strong experimental evidence in favour of either the presynapse or postsynapse, the SynGO term "synapse" was used. |
