Annotation description: | Quantitative immuno-gold EM in macaque monkey enthorynal cortex show that EAAC1 is present predominantly at the edge of the PSD (peri-PSD) in the spine plasma membrane. These data are replicated in rodent hippocampus tissue (see supporting refs). No significant immuno-reactivity is observed in the presynaptic terminal. As EAAC1 is a transporter with several transmembrane regions (see UniProt F7H624 (F7H624_MACMU)), the localisation is integral to the spine membrane. |
