Annotation description: | Fig 1 Immunolabeling and confocal imaging of ephrinB3 shows that ephrinB3 is localized to mossy fiber axons and synaptic terminals in hippocampus of mice, specifically ephrin-B3-Beta-galactosidase fusion protein was colocalized with presynaptic marker synapsin 1 in stratum lucidum of CA3. 23/6/2017 Pim - Literal: "triple-immunofluorescent labeling and confocal microscopy confirmed that immunoreactivity for ephrin-B3-β-galactosidase fusion protein (red) was not colocalized with the postsynaptic dendritic marker MAP2 (green) (e, f) but was colocalized with the presynaptic marker synapsin I (green)" - Based on the known transmembrane topology of the protein, the "integral component of ... membrane" term was chosen. |

Additional literature: | Cloning of ephrinB3 (EPLG8) suggest a transmembrane containing protein. @ PMID:9126477 Fig1A,B An accumulation of VGluT1 signal was observed in axons crossing ephrinB3-expressing HEK293 cells, but not in those that contact GFP-expressing cells, suggesting that ephrinB3 is a transmembrane protein localized to the plasma membrane. @ PMID:17626212 Fig 1 and Fig 2. Through immunostaining and confocal imaging it was shown that EphrinB3 is coexpressed with Tau-1 and synaptobrevin in puncta and the growth cones of DIV4 and DIV4 hippocampal cultures, suggesting a pre-synpatic localization of ephrinB3 (besides a post-synaptic localization). @ PMID:16466709 |
