Annotation description: | CTTNBP2 regulates dendritic spine morphology and synaptic activity (Fig 4) by stabilizing the actin actin-binding protein cortactin (CTTN; SynGO ID 223) at synapses (Fig 5 and 7). 28/3/2017 Pim The referenced figures show an effect on synapse density. The authors state that CTTNBP2 afects both formation of new synapses and the maintenance of exisiting ones: 1. "Therefore, the experiments performed during DIV 12-18 favor a role of CTTNBP2 in **spinogenesis**" 2. "These data suggest that CTTNBP2 is likely also involved in the **maintenance of dendritic spines**" The approporiate terms for these processed would be: ad 1: 'regulation of synapse assembly (GO:0051963)' ad 2: 'maintenance of synapse structure (term not in SynGO)' One can also use a single more general term to capture both phenomena: 'regulation of synapse organization (GO:0050807)' |
