Figure(s):Fig 5-7
Annotation description:Double mutant mice of (i) hypomorph HYH (recessive missense mutation (M105I)in alpha-SNAP)a dn (ii) beta-SNAP KO show 25% reduced RRP size as determined by HSS stimulation without changes in evoked EPSC amplitudes or mEPSC amplitudes and frequencies. EPSC recovery after electrical discharge of the RRP by long 40 Hz and 100 Hz AP trains was slower in DKO neurons as compared to Ctrl cells.

- hypomorph HYH reduces the amount of aSNAP and is embryonically lethal
- Syn.Tr. in hypomorph HYH aSNAP mouse is unaltered.
- Syn.Tr. in bSNAP mouse is unaltered.
- aSNAP and bSNAP are functionally interchangable (also shown in Fig 7)
- In the Dmut mouse bSNAP is completely removed and aSNAP is present at reduced levels
- The results in the Dmut mouse should be attributed to reduction of aSNAP
