Annotation description:Average enrichment of Calnexin in docked synaptic vesicles is 4.5 fold (Boyken et al. 2013).
Note:
To date Calnexin is considered mainly as a single-pass type 1 membrane protein of the ER membrane (Wiest et al. 1995).
However, Calnexin has also been detected in postsynatic membranes (SynGO ID 295). Accordingly it may also appear in the presynaptic membrane. Alternatively the preparation may contain ER components.

Additional literature:Calnexin is a single-pass type 1 membrane protein of the ER membrane. @ PMID:7628443

Calnexin is a type I endoplasmic reticulum integral membrane protein and responsible for the folding and quality control of newly-synthesized (glyco)proteins. To date its function has been assigned exclusively to ER-related compartments. @ PMID:26676362
