Annotation description: | Fig.5: "At the electron-microscopic level, immunoreactivity for both calsyntenin-2 and -3 was most prominent in the postsynaptic specializations of asymmetric (Type I) synapses with both axodendritic and axospinous localization (Figs. 4E-4G and 5E-5H). Sections through the proximal dendrites revealed also strong immunolabeling of some internal membraneous organelles (Fig. 4G). In sections through the neuronal somas, calsyntenin-2 and -3 immunoreactivity was also found on the membranes of the endoplasmic reticulum and the Golgi apparatus. Occasionally, patchy staining of the somal and dendritic plasmamembrane was found (not shown)." - Based on the known transmembrane topology of the protein, the "integral component of ... membrane" term was chosen. |
