Annotation description: | Fig.1: "NL4 associates with GlyRs" - " Thus, NL4 is localized to inhibitory, preferentially glycinergic synapses in the retina and is the only NL isoform to display such selectivity." Fig.5: "NL4 interacts with collybistin and gephyrin." "We found that the intracytoplasmic domain of NL4 (NL4ICD) also interacts with gephyrin and collybistin in yeast two-hybrid assays (Fig. 5A) and GST-pulldowns (Fig. 5B). Finally, gephyrin and collybistin are coimmunoprecipitated with NL4 in chemically cross-linked extracts from mixed brainstem and spinal cord samples of WT and NL2-KO, but not of NL4-KO mice (Fig. 5D), indicating that NL4, gephyrin, and collybistin specifically associate into higher-order complexes in vivo." - The direct interaction of the intracellular tail of NLGN4; neuroligin-4 with gephyrin supports localization at the postsynaptic membrane (as do other known neuroligins). - Based on the known transmembrane topology of the protein, the "integral component of ... membrane" term was chosen. |
