Annotation description:Wong et.al. use STED microscopy to demonstrate that Liprin a2 (gene product of PPFIA2) is localized in the presynaptic terminal. Diffuse signal was observed throughout the terminal.

In a separate experiment, knockout of the close homolog Liprin a3 led to a striking recruitment of Liprin a2 to the presynaptic active zone. This suggest that Liprin a2 may have a role at the active zone as well.

Specificity of the antibody for Liprin a2 was previously determined by Zurner et.al. 2011.
