Annotated paper: | Matsuoka Y, et al. "Adducin is an in vivo substrate for protein kinase C: phosphorylation in the MARCKS-related domain inhibits activity in promoting spectrin-actin complexes and occurs in many cells, including dendritic spines of neurons" J Cell Biol. 1998 Jul 27;142(2):485-97 PMID:9679146 |
Figure(s): | Fig.7, 8 |
Annotation description: | Fig.7: "Colocalization of phosphoadducin with GluR2/4 and specific phosphorylation of adducin in dendritic spines of cultured hippocampal neurons" - "Phosphoadducin was highly concentrated in spots flanking dendrites, which we interpret to be dendritic spines based on colocalization with AMPA receptors (a non-NMDA glutamate receptor) detected using antibody against the GluR2/4 subunits (Fig. (Fig.7,7, a-c, arrowheads)." Fig.8: "Total adducin staining using antibody against the MARCKS-related domain, in contrast to the phosphoadducin, was observed along the entire cell membrane and in the cytoplasm of cell body and dendrites as well as in the dendritic spines (Fig. (Fig.8,8, a-c)." "These results combined with Fig. Fig.77 demonstrate that adducin is uniformly distributed along the plasma membrane and that dendritic spines are the most active sites for adducin phosphorylation in hippocampal neurons." |
