Only a fraction of symmetrical synapses on somata, proximal, and distal dendrites showed immunoreactivity for the a2 subunit (Fig. 2C). Immunopositive synapses were also present on the somato-dendritic domain of a subset of GABAergic interneurons in all layers (not shown)."

Abstract: ". The al subunit has been found in most GABAergic synapses on all postsynaptic domains of pyramidal cells. In contrast, the a2 subunit was located only in a subset of synapses on the somata and dendrites, but in most synapses on axon initial segments innervated by axo-axonic cells."
