| Annotation description: | GluD2 is localizes to the postsynaptic density membrane of Parallel Fiber (PF)-Purkinje cells synapses in the cerebellum. Supplementary Fig. S11: Immunogold labeling for GluD2 by SDS-digested freeze-fracture replica labeling in the molecular layer of cerebellar tissue from WT and GluD2-KO mice. "Immunoparticles for GluD2 (10 nm) accumulated over a postsynaptic membrane specialization...in wild-type (A), but not in GluD2-null (B), mouse cerebellum." The number of GluD2 particles at these synapses was positively correlated with the synapse size (E). Double labeling of AMPARs (anti-pan GluA, 5 nm particles) and GluD2 (15 nm particles) in a Sprague-Dawley rat showed a similar distribution of both proteins at PF-PC synapses. - Based on the known transmembrane topology of the protein, the "integral component of ... membrane" term was chosen. |
