Annotation description: | TARP γ-4 modulates the decay of synaptic AMPAR currents. Fig. 7: Overexpression of stargazin (stg, TARP γ-2) or TARP γ-4 in cultured cerebellar granule cells from stg mutant (stg/stg) mice restored AMPAR-mediated synaptic responses. The amplitude and frequency of mEPSCs in stg/stg cells transfected with TARP γ-4 were ~50% of WT. The decay of mEPSCs and weighted decay constants were slower in TARP γ-4 expressing neurons compared to TARP γ-2 or WT cells. The differential slowing of the decay of mEPSCs by TARP γ-4 in neurons was similar to its effect on slowing of deactivation decays for GluR1 channels in heterologous cells, "demonstrating that the isoform-specific modulation of gating kinetics characterized here is relevant to synaptic transmission in neurons." |
