Annotation description:There is a ton of experimental evidence for Gria2; GluR2 as a LGIC that is located at the PSD of glutamatergic synapses and is involved in membrane potential regulation. This paper is a recent example of this notion.

Background: hippocampal LTP is effectuated by a an increase in the number of AMPARs in the PSD membrane that effectuate an enhanced postsynaptic response to presynaptic NT release.

In this paper the authors show that localization of more AMPARs during LTP is dependent on the cytoplasmic tail of the Gria2; GluR2. Basal properties of synaptic transmission is unaffected in the Gria2; GluR2 mutant mice.
