Annotation description:The paper looks at muscarinic receptor modulation of the K+ evoked release of radiolabelled Acetylcholine (Figure 1B) , pre-incubated in brain slices, by generic muscarinic receptor agonist oxotremorine . The profound inhibition mediated by this agonist in hippocampal (Figure 2) and Cortical (Figure 3) brain slices slices from wild type mice is compared with those from mChR2 knockout mice.

- The ACh-release experiments are on slices and do not provide a direct synaptic context. The synaptic context is provided by the localization studies in Fig.5+6 that show co-localization of CHRM2 and the vesicular ACh transporter (only striatum shown).
