Annotation description:This paper demonstrates localization of drebrin A in dendritic spines in the cerebral cortex using confocal and electron microscopy (figures 3,4, 5). This paper also presents data that Drebrin A co-sediments with other actin-binding proteins in the insoluble fraction (figure 6). And, immuno-EM labeling on synaptosomes showed Drebrin A labeling on filamentous materials that were associated with postsynaptic densities (figure 7). Finally, biochemical evidence is provided that drebrin interacts with actin and the actin-binding proteins gelsolin and myosin II (figure 8). Together these data indicate that Drebrin A is bound to the postsynaptic actin cytoskeleton.
