Annotation description: | Paper shows that GABARs in gamma2-/- animals are again targeted to synapses after ectopic overexpression of gamma3. This shows that gamma3 is part of a synaptic GABAR that control synaptic transmission (Fig.2, 3). That this role is performed by the endogenous gamma3 subunit is illlustrated in Fig.4 that shows that gamma3 is localized to postsynaptic sites in gamma2-/- animals: "Thus, GABAA receptor clustering can be mediated by both the endogenous and the ectopic γ3 subunit, a property best seen in the absence of the γ2 subunit." |
