Annotation description: | Background: Authors show that kalirin protein locates to the dendritic spine to control actin dynamics. In a previous publication (PMID:10692441) the authors show that KALRN is enriched in the PSD fraction. Fig 2: "CaMKII interacts with and phosphorylates kalirin-7" "CaMKII coimmunoprecipitated with kalirin-7 and PSD-95 from rat forebrain homogenates (Figure 2A), suggesting that these proteins participate in the same multiprotein complex" Fig 3: Confocal microscopy of cortical pyramidal neurons show strong localisation of kalirin-7 at the tips of spines indicating specific localisation at the PSD. Fig 4: Competition with C-terminal Kalirin 7 peptide (competitor of interaction with PSD95) prevents Kalirin accumulation at dendritic spines |
