Annotation description: | Background: Myosin IIb is a known actin based motor that consists of multiple subunits. The Myh10 gene encodes the heavy chain of this complex. Fig.1: "Myosin IIb is required for stable LTP and activity-related spine actin polymerization" KD of MYH10 in the hippocampus CA1 area does not affect basal neuronal communication but impairs stability of LTP induction. "Slices expressing MyH10-shRNAs demonstrated significantly depressed levels of activity-induced spine F-actin structures" The rest of the experiments detail this the role of Myosin IIb, but are not specific at the Myh10 gene level. Fig.3: NMDA receptor stimulation and LTP induction triggers one or more second messenger systems (tested with ROCK inhibition) that activate the myosin II motor. Together: "In vivo delivery of shRNAs that targeted MyH10, the heavy chain of Myosin IIb, prevented F-actin polymerization and stable LTP." |
