Annotation description:The study documents the localization of MCT2 at a variety of glutamatergic synapses using immunogold localization electron microscopy. MCT2 is detected at Schaffer collateral/commissural fibre synapses in CA1, recurrent collateral/commissural fibre synapses in CA3, cerebellar parallel fibre/Purkinje cell synapses (mouse), and to a lesser extent mossy fibre synapses. It is absent from symmetric synapses.
