Annotation description: | SAP102 localizes to the postsynaptic density of excitatory synapses in CA1 neurons of the adult (P37) rat hippocampus (Figure 1D-E). Distinct from PSD-95, SAP102 is not palmitoylated nor anchored in the PSD-membrane, and can therefore localize to both the PSD and cytoplasm within dendritic spines. The median value for the location of SAP102 is 24.2nm from the postsynaptic membrane. SAP102 is more generally distributed in the cytoplasm between 50 and 250 nm from the postsynaptic membrane. Antibodies used in electron microscopy analyses were validated by western blot analysis of rat hippocampus and ectopic expressing in HEK cells (Figure 1) and immunogold labeling in CA1 stratum radiatum of the rat hippocampus over the course of development (Figure 4B). |
