Annotation description:Background:
- This paper investigates inhibitory synapse onto presynaptic terminals on the Calyx of Held.
- The investigated GlycR subunit is alpha1.

Fig.2C: Electron micrograph showing clusters of GlyR-associated IG particles (arrowheads) at postsynaptic sites juxtaposed with putative inhibitory terminals.

Note: although at first sight this may seem to represent presynaptic GlycRs, these GlycRs are part of a postsynaptic element of inhibitory synapses onto the terminal: " Calyceal GlyRs, however, do not preferentially locate near the glutamate release sites in domains typical for analogous presynaptic autoreceptors." The appparent clustering of GlyRs under surrounding boutons strengthens this idea. Annotation to 'integral component of postsynaptic specialization membrane (GO:0099060)' was made.
