Annotation description: | Fig.4 "α-Bungarotoxin (α-Bgtx) labeling of nAChR α9 and α10 in cochlear tissues and cultured cells" At P10 VAChT labeled presynaptic terminals overlap extensively with alpha-Bgtx staining. In cochlear hair cells the alphya-Btx staining is mediated by alpha9/alpha10 heteromeric nAHCRs. Rapsyn, a component of the muscle postsynaptic specialization, binds and mediates aggregation of alpha-Bgtx (=alpha9/alpha10 heteromeric nAHCRs) in non-neuronal cells. This is another indirect indication of localization of alpha9/alpha10 heteromeric nAHCRs to the cholinergic postsynaptic specialization. - Based on the known transmembrane topology of the protein, the "integral component of ... membrane" term was chosen. |
