Annotated paper:Kobayashi C, et al. "Drebrin a content correlates with spine head size in the adult mouse cerebral cortex" J Comp Neurol. 2007 Aug 10;503(5):618-26 PMID:17559090
Figure(s):Fig 1 and 3
Annotation description:This paper shows the ultrastructural localization of drebrin A primarily in dendritic spines, as visualized by horseradish peroxidase/diaminobenzidine (HRP/DAB) staining (Figure 1). The localization was highest in the spine cytoplasm (~56%), with smaller fractions in or at the PSD (~25%), and at the plasma membrane (~15%) (Figure 3).

Additional literature:Drebrin A is localized at the plasma membrane of nascent spines. Drebrin A may be involved in organizing the dendritic pool of actin for the formation of spines and of axospinous excitatory synapses during early postnatal periods. @ PMID:15700273
