Annotation description:GABAB1-deficient (GABAB1-/-) mice were generated. Using classical electrophysiological techniques together with application of baclofen, a GABA B agonist, authors showed lost of Pre- and Postsynaptic GABAB Responses in GABA B1 -/- mice. This demonstrates that GABAB1 is an essential component of pre- and postsynaptic GABAB receptors.

Additional literature:Using molecular modeling and site-directed mutagenesis, the authors have identified two residues in lobe I, Ser246 and Asp471, and one residue in lobe II of the GABA-B1 subunit that are critical for agonist binding and activation of the heteromeric receptor. @ PMID:10986293
