Annotated paper:Aoki C, et al. "Drebrin A is a postsynaptic protein that localizes in vivo to the submembranous surface of dendritic sites forming excitatory synapses" J Comp Neurol. 2005 Mar 21;483(4):383-402 PMID:15700273
Figure(s):Figs 10 and 11
Annotation description:Immuno-EM for drebrin A in neonatal tissue shows sub-membraneous labeling of drebrin A preferentially at developing, immature synaptic structures, more than at synaptic structures that have characteristics of more developed synapses. Based on these data it cannot be derived whether drebrin A is directly anchored in or to the membrane, more likely it is in close proximity, rather than directly attached.
